You're My Sunflower

Good morning and Happy Monday! This week felt like one of those weeks that felt so full and busy- when I was looking back through this post I couldn't believe this was all from earlier this week. It seemed so long ago! I guess that's a good sign that I'm settling in here- I'm finally feeling busy and like I have fun things to fill my week with. Here's a look at how my (busy and fun) week went with workouts- Monday 45 min 90s Bike Bootcamp with Jess Made it to my first bike bootcamp in quite a while. This wasn't my favorite class ever- I felt kind of distracted the whole time but got through it. Need to get back in the habit of doing one of these every week because they add so much to my routine! Tuesday 3 mile Run Went out at lunchtime for a run, and decided to check out two parks. I started at Hemlock Bluffs, which is a beautiful park with trails going through the woods. Then I hopped on the Swift Creek Greenway which took me to Harold Ritter park for a quick l

Hi and good morning! I spent most of my week in South Carolina with my family in Myrtle Beach. It was a lot of fun but also exhausting! My sister has a toddler and let me tell you...he has a lot of energy. I had a great time with them but also managed to have a semi-regular workout schedule. Here's what the week looked like and a peak into some of the fun things we did- Monday 20 min Foundations of Movement with Kristin Trying to keep a little bit of my normal routine while I'm away, so I started my day with my yoga program. This one was all about learning how to balance, which is my favorite type of class! We had all kinds of movements, from standing to beginner crow. 45 min Power Walk with Matty Made it outside for a walk at lunchtime. I took a lap around the golf course where we're staying and it started to mist a little while I was out- felt so refreshing and made my walk so much better! This playlist was all female singers and was such a great mix of genres.  Once my s

Happy Monday everyone! I have an exciting few weeks- my mom was in town this week to visit, and then we headed to the beach to meet up with my sister. I still had lots of workouts that I squeezed in and some active time together. Here's what the week looked like- Monday 30 min Walk + Run with Adrian Lunch run around the lake and into some neighborhoods to explore a bit. It felt great to have a few walk breaks since it was pretty warm at lunch, and I really liked how this class was set up. There were longer running sections followed by short walks which is just what I like instead of a straight 50/50 split. Tuesday 2 mile Hike Dan and I met up with my mom at the Nature Park for a nice walk in the woods. It was pretty hot out and we had Selma, so I was trying to finish up quickly and get her back in the shade. Even though she loves being out in the heat and going on long walks, I get so nervous about her over heating and make sure she drinks lots of water the entire time we're ou

May + June Reads and Reviews

Good morning and happy Thursday (can't believe it's Thursday already..it's been a busy week!). Today I'll be sharing what I've been reading lately. I feel like I've been reading like crazy lately with a few short trips here and there and relaxing from our move. It's been one of my favorite things to take a book out on our balcony that overlooks a pond and read as the sun's setting. Here are the books I finished in May and June- The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening her husband Gabriel returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face, and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that capt

Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a great holiday weekend- mine was pretty fun and exciting because I had some visitors come for the first time since we moved. We had a great week and weekend, with even more fun planned for this week. Here's a look at how my workouts went! Monday 30 min Pride Run with Jess King Today I turned 31, so I decided to run 3.1 miles to "celebrate". I headed out first thing in the morning and put on this fun playlist that I've been saving! I finished my goal at the Starbucks by my place to grab my birthday drink (venti salted caramel cold foam cold brew...very good) and walked back with Dan and Selma. Perfect start to the day. 3 mile Hike After work, Dan and I headed to William B. Umstead State Park, which I've been SO excited to visit! We parked at the Sycamore lot, then headed down the multi-use trail until we hit the creek, and hiked back on Sycamore trail. The hike wasn't too strenuous or hilly, but the views along the way
