Weekly Workout Recap : 7/13-7/19

Image
Hi everyone!  I hope your weekend is going well so far.  I'm here to recap my week of workouts, which I'm very proud of!  I got over 20 miles in, and incorporated two days of yoga.  Let's get into it! Monday : 3 miles AM / 28:29 / 9:29 pace I felt great this morning and it was gorgeous out.  I always start out really slow during my morning runs (I guess I'm not fully awake until I'm a mile in) and my splits were 10:03, 9:23, 9:03 .  Entire run felt good and easy: exactly what I needed! Tuesday : Walking and Running with dogs I didn't go on a full run today, but I did walk lots of dogs at the Humane Society.  We recently got a 10-month white Siberian Husky who was full of so much energy, so I took her for about a 2 mile run.  She wasn't tired out at all from the run but I was! Wednesday : 4 miles PM / hill repeats True Runner had their Hump Day Hills run, and Dan and I conquered Shady Ave together. It was really hot and sunny ou...

Top Five Friday #20

Image
It's finally Friday!  After thinking it was Wednesday for the majority of the week, I'm so happy to say that the weekend is actually here.  Last week was a relaxing weekend with no plans, and this weekend will be hectic and crazy but also lots of fun.  I can't wait to share what I'm up to on Monday! Today I'll be sharing my favorites of the week, along with my second installment of happiness gold star and demerit.  I also have some great songs to share and some TV show thoughts!  I hope you enjoy and have a great weekend! Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Natural in N18 I have finally found my perfect pink lipstick!  This color is absolutely gorgeous- perfectly nude/pink (it's called powdery pink) with a really creamy formula that lasts for hours.  It's also really hydrating and smooths out my lips completely.  There are 50 shades in this range, and I plan on trying more because the formula is amazing !  I also love how sleek and simp...

Quick and Easy Breakfast Ideas

Image
Happy Thursday (aka Friday Eve)!   This weekend is going to be really fun and I have a ton planned, so I'm just counting down the hours until Friday. In my most recent monthly goals post, I mentioned that I wanted to start eating breakfast every morning.  In the past, I've either completely skipped eating breakfast, or bought something as soon as I got to work because I was so hungry. I'm trying to save some money (and be a little healthier) by bringing my own breakfast to work lately.  The five different meals I'm talking about today are all: #1 delicious and #2 quick/easy to make. A few disclaimers before we start: I am not a nutritionist.  Some of these breakfasts are not the healthiest (pretty sure bagels and cream cheese are on the do NOT eat list), but when I'm working out and training (especially running in the morning), I get really hungry.  I would rather eat something high in calories and fats that will keep me full and my muscles happy...

Wednesday Reviews : LuluLemon Favorites

Image
Hello!! I'm really happy that it's Wednesday (which means one step closer to the weekend!) For today's review, I wanted to talk about some of my favorite pieces from Lululemon.  I'm still fairly new to the company, but most of the things that I've tried are considered staples by many.  Some have been home runs and some have been big regrets.  I wanted to talk about them all and share what I would recommend!  Be sure to leave a mini review of your favorites (whether or not they're from Lulu!) Energy Bra Colors: white and crosscourt petal black clarity Size: 4 Source: Lululemon I absolutely LOVE this sports bra.  The back is really interesting and has crossing straps, sometimes in different colors.  It's also lightly padded, and I can wear it for any activity- from running to yoga.  There are so many beautiful designs and colors, and it seems that there are constantly new ones being released.  It looks great under tank tops, where you...

Where to Run in Pittsburgh

Image
Is anyone else ready for the weekend? I know that it's only Tuesday, but it's already been a long week.  I can't believe the weekend is still days away.  I guess we have to power on and hope that the rest of the days fly by! On a more positive note, I have a fun post today and I'm linking up with Tuesdays on the Run !  We'll be talking about running routes, so I'm really excited to see the other posts!  I'll be talking about a few different neighborhoods in the city today.  These are some of the more popular areas to stay in if you're visiting the city.   I thought it would be helpful to share routes as well as a fun place to refuel after your run.  Enjoy! I hope you enjoy the post today, and if you're interested in seeing some routes that I previously talked about, check out this post ! Weekend Update : No Plans Edition

Image
Happy Monday everyone!  Did you all have a great weekend?  It was finally a dry weekend in Pittsburgh (and across most of the country as far as I've heard) so I hope everyone got to enjoy the beautiful weather! As the title suggests, this weekend I had absolutely no plans.  It was great to relax and catch up on some housework (and watch Wimbledon finals of course!!)  Sometimes in the summer it's nice to just chill out and not be rushing constantly.  Hopefully this won't be a boring recap, and I swear I have some fun posts coming up! As usual, I'll be recapping my weekend and linking up with Katie and Erin! Friday Took a walk down to Shadyside and stopped in Athleta, Lululemon and True Runner.  I tried on a ton of clothes and ended up with a pair of run times short.   They're a bit longer than the speed shorts, but are so soft and comfortable.  I love them! (ignore my awkward hands...whoops!) I also tried out Appalachian ...

Weekly Workout Recap : 7/6-7/12

Image
Hi everyone!  Hope you're all having a great weekend so far. While I was training for the Biggest Loser Half Marathon , I made weekly posts recapping my workouts.  After the race I stopped these posts, and I've noticed that my motivation to workout, especially cross training, has been severely lacking. In an effort to get back on track with tons of races coming up (check out my updated Races page here ) weekly workout recaps are back! (It may be pathetic that I need to put my workouts out on the Internet to hold myself accountable and actually get decent mileage each week, but whatever works, right??) This week was really my first week back to regular workouts.  In June, I ran in three races and was also gone every weekend.  It was definitely a busy month, so now that I'm a bit more settled down, I really focused on getting back in shape.  I also wanted to start running in the morning again!  During my last training cycle, I started getting in the h...
