Top Five Friday #63

Hi everyone!  What a week this has been!  I had some ups and downs (which I'll talk about below) so I'm really happy for the weekend.  I have some fun plans (which I'll ALSO talk about below) and also hope to get in my final long run before my half marathon!  Its shaping up to be a great weekend, and I hope that you all enjoy yours as well.  See you next Monday!

Nordstrom Sale Picks

There are still a few days left in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, so I wanted to share what I ended up purchasing!  I ended up keeping everything that I ordered and would recommend it all.  Here are my thoughts on each item:

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Set
Unfortunately this set is now sold out, but I had to share it anyway because I'm in LOVE (you can buy each piece separately online!).  This was my first time trying an expensive hair brand (I usually use Suave), so I was mostly curious to see if I could actually tell a difference.

I used the shampoo and conditioner one day and was amazed at how great my hair looked immediately (usually new products take a few uses to make a difference), and even more surprised at how good it looked the following morning!  Usually my hair is a combination of oily/flat at the roots, and frizzy/dry everywhere else.  With this, my hair looked so full and healthy!  I followed up with some of the dry shampoo, which made it look like I just got a blowout.  So good!  I know that Ulta sells big bottles of these products, so I'll eagerly await a sale and stock up.

If you're looking for the shirt to wear this fall, here it is.  I am absolutely obsessed with the cozy material of this shirt, and I love how it looks as well.  I've gotten a few plaid shirts throughout the years, but I can never get them to fit quite right.  This shirt was definitely a splurge (I don't think I've EVER spent that much money on a shirt) but I think it's worth it for the quality!  FYI- I got this in a size small and it fits loosely.  If you want it to be more fitted I would order your regular size, or order up for a relaxed fit.

Once again, this is more than I've ever spent on a pair of jeans, but I wanted to invest in a good pair that would last me a long time.  These jeans are sooooo comfortable- they almost feel like sweat pants!  I love the dark wash on these, and the slight fading gives them a more relaxed look.  For sizing- I ordered these in a size 27, which is my normal size, and they fit a bit loose.  I could probably go a size smaller, but I love how comfortable these are (no muffin top!) so I'm keeping them!

Olly Restful Sleep Vitamins

I've always been a bad sleeper, and in the past few weeks it's gotten much worse!  Not only do I have a hard time falling asleep, but I've been waking up in the middle of the night with night terrors and sleep walking.  I wanted to try a natural cure before doing something more extreme, so I picked up some Olly vitamins that a few people recommended in the past.

These have a blend of Melatonin, L-Theanine and other botanicals to help you sleep better in a natural way.  I've only been using these a few days, but I can already tell a HUGE difference.  Not only do I sleep through the night now, but I'm also falling asleep faster and waking up completely refreshed.  If you also struggle with sleeping, I would recommend giving these a try (of course- I'm not a doctor so make sure you check in with yours before you try these, which are OTC).  FYI- I only take a half dose at night, and it works perfectly (plus they taste delicious)!

Our First Plant!

Dan and I are slowly making improvements and changes in our house (you can follow along in my other blog!) and this week we picked up our first (live) plant!  I decided on a majesty palm, since it's safe with dogs and supposedly low-maintenance.  We have it in the living room for now, and I can't wait to see it grow!  If anyone has tips for keeping palms alive, please let me know!

VegFest

To my fellow Yinzers out there, this weekend is Veg Fest!  This is a free event at Allegheny Commons in the North Side, and I'm so excited.  There's going to be food vendors, music, and more!  I hope to see you there!

Before I go- I want to remind you all that next Thursday is the What's New With You linkup!  Don't forget to join Kristen and me in the fun :)

    1. I didn't go too much into it, but my sleep issues freaked me out this week, and were made worse by some other stress going on! I guess I made it seem worse than it was...whoops :/ Luckily those vitamins seemed to "cure" it for now!

  3. VegFest sounds awesome- hope you share a recap if it's cool! I grew up using Suave and started buying nicer hair products when I moved out- OMG such a difference, will never go back. No advice for the plant as I struggle to keep anything alive but good luck!

  5. So jealous of that plaid shirt. I never buy any (okay, so I caved and bought two from the mens department...no shame) because I can never find ones that fit in the shoulders & then don't do weird button stuff in the boobular region. UGH.

    1. Button up shirts are seriously the worst for women! Why haven't they figured out a way to get them to stay closed (even for non-busty people like me!)

  6. Perfect timing! My current shampoo and conditioner is expensive and I haven't been loving it, so I didn't re-order. I think I'm going to try Living Proof! See you tomorrow!

  7. Those sleep vitamins sound like a great option. I would love to try something like that for getting to sleep? Although I usually do stay asleep during the night. Do they help with going to sleep? Also, I love plaid shirts. I'm a lumberjack gal at heart.

  8. Oh, I am horrible with plants. I hope you have better luck than I do. Although we bought a palm tree on our honeymoon (over 10 years ago) and it's still alive ( I think), so there's that! Have a great weekend and I'm gonna check out your home blog!

  13. I absolutely swear by L-theanine for sleep and stress. People close to me say I'm a little more fun to be around when I'm taking it, just because it takes the edge off of my anxiety and/or acute stress. Loving your Nordstrom finds! Have a fabulous weekend :)
