MIMM : Tennessee Wedding

What a weekend!

On Friday, I mentioned that I had a big weekend planned, and it was a trip to Tennessee for a wedding!  It was such an amazing, beautiful weekend, and I can't wait to share some pictures.   Before I start, I want to congratulate all my Pittsburgh girls who ran the Buffalo Creek half..many of who got HUGE PR's!  To everyone else who ran a race, I would love to hear how you did in the comments!

Now let's get to the pictures!

Dan's aunt and uncle live near the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee, which is filled with touristy towns.  One of them is called Gatlinburg, where we visited first.  The town is full of cute little shops and tons of places to buy moonshine!

The entire town was decked out for fall, and it was so cute.  Hay bails and pumpkins everywhere, and the trees were all changing colors.

We took a tram up to Ober Gatlinburg, which is a ski resort a few miles up in the mountains.  In the summer and fall, it's more like an amusement park with mountain coasters, carousels, ice skating rinks and more.   The view of the range was absolutely gorgeous, and the tram was a lot of fun to ride!

It was Okt"ober"fest up in Ober Gatlinburg, so there were beer gardens and oompa bands everywhere.  I'm not sure if the blonde hair works for me....

A highlight of the trip was going on the ski lifts to the top of the mountain, then going down a luge track.  So much fun, and more gorgeous views of the mountains.

Of course, the reason we were in Tennessee was for a wedding!  Dan's dad got married to the most wonderful, sweet woman ever, and they had such a beautiful wedding!  It was held at the Chapel at the Park, which has the most gorgeous outdoor garden.  The entire setting was serene and full of natural beauty.

There were fountains that slowly trickled water, as well as candles set up around the altar area.  The leaves were starting to change colors, and sunlight barely peeked through the trees.  So perfect and romantic for a wedding!

The arch behind them says "And they lived happily ever after"...don't they look so happy and perfect for each other?  They both looked amazing!

The reception was nice and simple, with a beautiful fall theme.  All of the tables had autumnal centerpieces and name cards.  It perfectly matched the bouquets which were shades of red and orange.

The cakes followed the theme and were covered with leaves, and had a "tree stump" as the base.  The groom's cake was Boston Creme with a Porsche on the top.  That's the cake that I tried an it was amazing!!

After the wedding, we had some free time so Dan and I stopped by The Track in Pigeon Forge and I got to go Bungee Jumping!  I can cross that one off my 30x30 list, and I had a blast!  Now I want to go off a higher platform (this was only 60 feet) and try sky diving.  So much fun!

As you can tell, it was a perfect weekend and an incredible wedding.  If you ever get the opportunity to visit Tennessee, I would highly recommend going!  It's a beautiful state and I always love to visit.

  1. What a beautiful weekend!

So far in Chicago, the best wedding spot I've seen was Promontory Pointe next to the lake. You can see the entire Chicago skyline there, and around this time of year there are leaves scattered everywhere. Gorg.

You couldn't pay me to bungee jump. Skydiving, however...;)

    1. That sounds like a beautiful place for a wedding! I bet the pictures were beautiful ! Funny that you wouldn't go bungee jumping but are fine with skydiving! I think skydiving would be much scarier..but a lot of fun as well. I would do both!

      Thanks for stopping by Tiffany!

I have free falling issues/ fears so I haven't bungee jumped. But I do fly in a small plane and that doesn't bother me :-)

    1. They really are beautiful. The weather was perfect as well! I'm not sure how much I would like to be in a small plane..I would much rather jump off a cliff (with a harness of course)

  4. Looks like such a fun weekend. I've only ever driven through Tennessee so I can't say I was excited to see the scenery. Our goal was to get across the state as quickly as possible.

  8. We honeymooned in Gatlinburg many, many years ago and have been back several times since. It's a great place all year round. TN is great. Chattanooga, Nashville - lots of other fun cities in that state. I have not bungee jumped, although I would consider it. Parasailing is higher on my list right now. I appreciate you linking up with us!

    1. That's so cool! I love that town and I'm so happy we get to visit about once a year. The only bad thing is the traffic..it's always horrible. Sounds like a perfect honeymoon spot! Thanks for hosting the linkup!

  13. I'm so glad you got to visit Gatlinburg. We go there often, in fact, we were there this time last year and also have another trip planned for May. Don't you just love all the little shops? It is sure decorated pretty this time of year. We make sure to visit all the moonshine places for our taste testing. Ole Smoky is our favorite but also like Sugarlands and Doc Collier. Word of advice, do not hit up all 3 on an empty stomach, you will surely be walking sideways! The wedding looked beautiful. We also got married at a small little chapel in Gatlinburg. I love the setting too and your are right they look so happy! Were you able to visit Dollywood? If you ever go back the theme park is a must and also if you want to take a breathtaking scenic car ride make sure to check out Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail, but make sure you have time to stop and walk to the water falls too! Gosh, I think I could be a spokes person for this area, lol. Oh one more thing if you have zip lining on your 30x30 list you must check out foxfire mountain! Ok I'll quit, :( Thanks for linking up with us!

    1. Gatlinburg is adorable! We're probably going back for Christmas and maybe in the spring. We didn't get to stop in for moonshine but that's definitely on our list for next time..thanks for the suggetsions :) We haven't been to Dollywood yet but I want to..Dan says that it's a bit expensive for what it is so it's not really a priority yet. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge should be paying you- you sure know your way around! I love ziplining and have gone lots of times so I will check that place out!! Thanks Tricia!!!

  15. Love your pictures! What a gorgeous wedding! We go to Gatlinburg every summer. My mother in law owns a timeshare there. I would love to see it in the fall though. I bet it is beautiful!

  16. The wedding team was very supportive. This venue had everything a girl might need. I highly recommend getting ready in the bridal suite of Los angeles wedding venues. They lit the fireplaces and the views from the suite were exceptional.

  17. Decided to pick up some flowers for the gf and was referred to this down to earth Flower Delivery NYC spot. Just gave her a general color preference and the florist proceeded to work her magic.

  18. Interact with the local people with whom you can get a lot of information from and know about their culture as well. As English is the international language and spoken all over the world, it is not a problem to communicate. And gestures, signs and other body language also help in communicating. budapest Student accommodation
